SAVE THE DATE! Our 2026 company production is just around the corner! Join us for three days of performances as we examine the extra/ordinary nature of ourselves and those around us through dance. Featuring 5 company dancers and additional community choreographers and performers, this season’s show is not to be missed!

Repertoire Class
August 1st | 5pm – 6:15pm
Come take class lead by Song In Motion’s director and learn a piece of choreography seen in the show! This Intermediate modern class will combine the elements of the Graham and Horton technique, along with more contemporary approaches to movement. Class will begin with a full body warmup and a technical center/across the floor, then end with choreography from our upcoming production Extra/Ordinary People. Plus, stick around after to see the show!
This class is offered at a Pay What You Can rate to support our community of artists. Space is limited so be sure to register in advance. Class will begin promptly at 5pm.

FREE Contemporary modern class
January 31st, 2026 | 3:30pm-5:00pm
Did you know that Song in Motion’s and our founder’s birthday are both in late January? To celebrate, we are offering a free contemporary modern class! This class will combine the elements of the Graham and Limon technique, along with more contemporary approaches to movement. Class will begin with a full body warmup and a technical center/across the floor, then end with short phrase work. To attend, all you need to do is RSVP above!
FREE EVENT – CARD MAKING FOR A CAUSE
February 21st, 2026 | 2pm-4pm
Last year, we welcomed 26 attendees who created over 100 cards in support of the Cards for Cubs* annual fundraiser. This year, we are setting an ambitious goal of 150 cards! Help us reach this goal by attending this FREE event. All supplies and materials are included, all you have to do is show up and get crafty!
Additionally, is your organization interested having this event hosted for your members FREE of charge? Reach out and let us know! We are looking to host this event at two additional organizations for our current season!

Movement In magnitude: a day of dance event

We are so excited to be sharing about the second annual Movement in Magnitude. This year’s event will feature new and returning teaching artists as well as an opportunity for Q&A and networking with one another. Registration is now open. Card making for a CAUSE: part 2

Create handmade cards to send to children in the foster care system. For 5 years, the founder of Song in Motion, Wen Song, has contributed to an annual Cards For Cubs fundraiser by creating and donating over 250 handmade cards. In collaboration with Lynch Dance Institute, Song in Motion is inviting the community to attend our FREE card making event where attendees ages 10+ can create their own cards to send to children in the foster care system. All supplies are provided, all you have to do is show up and get crafty!
Who: Anyone 10+
When: June 20th, 2026 – 11am-2pm
You are not required to stay for the full event, come and go as at a time convenient for you.

CARD MAKING FOR A CAUSE II

An attendee enjoyed the event and cause so much that we were invited to bring the event to the Ohr Shalom Synagogue where the attendees were able to make an additional 24 cards to be donated! IN SCHOOL PERFORMANCE
April 9th, 2025
We presented two dances for the dance students of PB and Farb Middle School. Our director, Wen, taught over 30 students at PB Middle School about contemporary dance during her 6-week residency and was enthused for them to witness a performance.
Movement in magnitude: a day of dance event
April 13th, 2025
Movement in Magnitude welcomed 34 participants of different ages, backgrounds, and dance experiences to the beautiful dance studios in Liberty Station. This event allowed participants to experience 11 different styles of dance throughout the day, all taught by working professionals in the field.

In Company
June 22nd, 2025
Song In Motion’s very first production that kicked off a summer of performances. This production featured many exciting dance styles and local choreographers. The purpose of this production was to provide an opportunity for local artist in the community to perform and showcase their work. We welcomed 9 additional performers and 4 additional choreographers to share the stage alongside our company dancers for two filled audiences.
SCULPTED
August 9th & 10th, 2025
Who are we if not for the ways in which we are sculpted and shaped to become who we are today. SCULPTED was our first full length production as a dance company which showcased our 5 company dancers and 2 additional guest artists. Additionally featuring live music, projection, and of course lots of dancing!

AADF* COMMUNITY SHOWCASE/OUTLINE
August 24th, 2025
Three of the statues from our company performances this summer were offered up to be painted for the AADF Community Showcase. Looking at the added splash of color and strokes on these statues made of our dancers reminds me of this poem that says, “I am a mosaic of everyone I’ve ever loved and those who I am still loving.”

ORPHEUS IN THE UNDERWORLD
September 26th & 28th, 2025
Last but not least, we finished with a bang by performing in Opera a la Carte’s production of Orpheus in the Underworld. This hilarious and high energy show had the audiences laughing in their seats. Our dancers Nika Fikhman and April Meza alongside company director Wen Song, performed in the iconic Can Can dance number. What a truly special production and collaboration to be a part of.
